We visit 2 trade shows each year to meet with our wonderful suppliers and view their offerings for the next season. On 13 September we headed up to Harrogate for the day. Harrogate Bridal Show is the longest established bridalwear trade show. It is huge and is THE big event in every bridal shop's calendar.
It was an early start to our 6 hour round trip, after dropping our children (5 between us) at school and nursery, armed with our take away Costa Coffees, we headed off up the A1 to Yorkshire.
Our first stop was with Essense of Australia. Essense always pull out all the stops and put on a fantastic display of their new collection. We were certainly not disappointed this time. They were situated in a huge private suite, rather than in the main hall, and it had been decorated beautifully. It actually looked like a really good wedding reception with lots of rose gold decorations, rustic tables, gorgeous flower displays and tonnes of sweeties and cakes! Of course the dresses were the stars of the show and it was very easy for us to choose which we would be adding to our already huge collection of Essense dresses back in the boutique.
We chose a really varied selection, each one adding something new and different. We loved the bateau necklines which are new for next year, lots of crepe (my new fave material) and of course plenty of pretty lace and sparkles. We added big ball gown skirts as well as slinky fit and flares too. The first of our 8 new Essense dresses is due in the boutique at the end of November. Here is a sneaky peek at a few of the styles heading our way:
Next, after a spot of lunch, we headed to the Designer Aisle to meet with Marie of Mikaella Bridal. Mikaella had a small collection of simply stunning gowns. With their signature super soft tulle, lace and understated elegance, we decided to add another 4 dresses to our offering in the boutique. They had the most stunning model on their stand and she made everything look incredible, so it was difficult to limit ourselves.
After a chat with a few industry friends, and Carissa making the most of the free fizz on offer at the Champagne bar we took our weary feet home!
All in all a great day and very productive day. We are really excited about the new gowns arriving and can’t wait for all of our brides-to-be to try them on. It really does feel like trends are changing in bridal fashion and as always, we aim to have the very latest styles in the boutique as soon as we can!
